They’d be one in the same in every lexicon on the planet if it were humanly possible. 2014 was the year that proved that it’s alive and kicking. I was starting to wonder if the whole winning the App Store lottery concept was dead. It took Hipster Whale 12 weeks to create Crossy Road. “In a couple of months we were able to create a simple, fun game that was featured on the App Store and climbed to the top of the App Store charts around the world-it’s amazing.” “We could never have dreamed of this level of success, with Crossy Road only being available on the App Store for the last six weeks of the year,” said Matthew Hall, who along with Andy Sum, is responsible for the game. Crossy Road was released at the tail end of 2014, but the runaway success of the game warranted a mention. Apps brought in over $10 billion for developers this year. Hipster Whale, the Australian-based original creators of the game, appear to be on a massive roll with Crossy Road, and were even mentioned by name in an Apple press release celebrating a record breaking year for the App Store. The Android version of the game was done by Yodo1Games and they appear to have done a solid job of the conversion. I am playing it right now inbetween posts and all seems well and good. Crossy Road is now available on all Android devices. ![]()
